Abstract:In present study,four species of cold-season turfgrass seeds were selected,and different concentrations of Artemisia annua extract collected from above-groud and below-ground parts were used for seed germination test in culture dishes. The allelopathy of extract on seedlings was analyzed through the seeds germination and seedlings growth as well as the synthetic effect of allelopathy. The seeds germination and seedlings growth showed that the extract collected from above-ground and below-ground parts had an inhibitory effect on the seeds germination and the seedling roots growth of 4 species of turfgrasses,but had a promoting effect on the growth of seedlings coleoptiles. The synthetic effect of allelopathy showed that the extract collected from above-ground parts had an inhibitory effect on the seeds germination and seedlings growth of 4 species of turfgrasses,but the effect on Agrostis tenuis was maximum (SE=-0.32) and on Poa pratensis was minimal (SE=-0.14). The extract collected from below-ground parts had a promoting effect on the seeds germination and seedlings growth of Lolium perenne (SE=0.10),but had an inhibitory effect on the seeds germination and seedlings growth of Agrostis tenuis,Festuca arundinacea and Poa pratensis,the effect on Poa pratensis was maximum (SE=-0.22) and on Festuca arundinacea was minimal (SE=-0.05). This study will provide a theoretical basis for the scientific treatment to Artemisia annua in flat beds when the lawn is planted.
