摘要：

本文对第12届北京国际草坪会议以及会议论文情况做了简要介绍，同时对中国和美国草坪业及草坪研究做了一个初步的比较。美国草坪业包括草坪研究经过持续发展并最终处于领先地位，得益于其国家经济的发展与强大以及相应的政策支持和良好的产业体系。尽管我国现代草坪科学研究与教育滞后于发达国家，但近10年来，我国草坪业取得快速发展。随着经济的快速发展，尤其是我国城镇化建设的加快，我国未来草坪业的发展空间巨大。同时我国草坪业包括草坪研究的发展也更需要国家政府层面的支持与引导。

Abstract:

The 12th International Turfgrass Research Conference (Beijing) was a successful meeting with over 200 scientists, professionals, and students from 17 countries worldwide. After an introduction about the conference, a comparison of turfgrass industry, particularly turfgrass research, between China and the United States (US) was also done here. In the US, the turfgrass industry and research becoming the top one in the world benefited from the growth of strong economy, government policies and support, and a very good industry system. The turfgrass industry and research in China grew rapidly in the past 10 years, and would have even greater penitential in future considering the fast economy growth and enormous urbanization needs in China. In the meanwhile, strong support and policy guidance from government are much more important for the success of turfgrass industry and research in China compared to that in the US.
