Abstract: In order to explore the difference of allelopathic potential of different extracts of Pedicularis kansuensis on several forage grasses, the effects of whole plant extracts, powder extracts and root zone soil extracts of Pedicularis kansuensis on seed germination and seedling growth of five forage seeds were investigated by laboratory bioassay. The aim is to reveal the potential of degradation of artificial grassland, and provide a theoretical basis for the restoration of degraded alpine meadow and the construction of artificial grassland. The results showed that the allelopathic effects of different extracts of Pedicularis kansuensis on seed germination and seedling growth of five forage seeds were different. The inhibitory effect of powder extracts on five forage was greater than that of whole plant extracts. The comprehensive allelopathic effect of whole plant extracts and powder extracts of Pedicularis kansuensis on the germination and seedling growth of the five graminous forage was the strongest on Festuca sinensis ‘Qinghai’and the weakest on Elymus sibiricus ‘Tongde’,and extracts of root zone soil was the strongest on Elymus sibiricus ‘Tongde’and the weakest on Elymus nutans, and moderate on other three species.
