Abstract: To understand the relationships between environmental factor and the grasshopper community in Ningxia grasslands, variables of the vegetation and grasshopper communities, and the relationships between the vari ables and the environmental factors have been equantitatively analyzed.By using the mathematical metheds such as path coefficiency analysis, canonical analysis and double screening for stepwise regression, 15 parameters for envi ronmental factors (8 paramettrs of them for plant community) were taken as independent varisbles, and 7 parame ters for grasshopper community were taken as dependent variables. The results show that the diversity of grasshop per species were positively correlated with the aridity index in habitat and the plant community with a greater com piexity of its family/species composition; that the dominance of grasshopper community were peitively correlated with the plant community of plant with a greater complexity of it vertical structure; in various subfamily of the grasshoppers, some speciec were clooely with the forbe grasslands and aridity habitats, while some species were asso ciated with gcod floral conditions. However, in the relationship between plants and grasshoppers, the effects of a gdri habitable c0ndition that were formed from the structure of plant community on some grasshoppers may be more important than that of the fed plants.
