Comparison of Carotenoids Content in Different Turfgrass Species

不同草坪草体内类胡萝卜素含量的比较

Abstract: The carotenoid content and composition of tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea Schreb.),Kentucky bluegrass(Poa pratensis L.)and mondo grass(Ophiopogon bodinieri Lévl.) in full sunlight were measured using high-performance liquid chromatography with an end capped Waters Spherisorb ODS-2 column.The abundance order of carotenoids was lutein,β-carotene,violaxanthin,and neoxanthin.The carotenoid was expressed as a percentage of total carotenoids instead of on the chlorophyll basis to better indicate the difference among species because the difference might be masked by the differences of carotenoid/chlorophyll ratio among species.There was no significant difference in neoxanthin and β-carotene contents among the three turfgrass species.The relative levels of lutein and xanthophyll pool(violaxanthin,antheraxanthin and zeaxanthin) were found to be strongly negatively correlated.While the ratio of lutein to xanthophyll pool was highest in O.bodinieri,no remarkable difference was found between F.arundinacea and P.pratensis.The ratio of β-Carotene plus its derivates(xanthophyll pool and neoxanthin) to α-Carotene plus its derivates(lutein) was found to be markedly different among three turfgrass species,with the ratio highest in P.pratensis and lowest in O.bodinieri.

摘要: 用高效液相色谱仪,配以Waters Spherisorb(ODS-2封口的色谱柱,测定正常光照条件下沿阶草(Festuca arundinacea Schreb.)、高羊茅(Poapratensis L.)和草地早熟禾(Ophiopogon bodinieri Lévl.)体内类胡萝卜素的相对含量和构成.结果表明:主要类胡萝卜素按其在植物体内的含量多少排序为叶黄素>β-胡萝卜素≥紫黄质>新黄质;由于不同植物的类胡萝卜素/叶绿素的比值不同,所有类胡萝卜素均以其在整个类胡萝卜素中所占的比值的不同来衡量种间的差异;3种植物中的新黄质和β-胡萝卜素的含量没有明显差异;叶黄素与叶黄素库(包括紫黄质、单环氧玉米黄质和玉米黄质)呈明显的负相关关系,沿阶草叶黄素/叶黄素库的比值最高,而草地早熟禾和高羊茅之间没有明显差异;β-胡萝卜素及其衍生物(叶黄素库和新黄质)与α-胡萝卜素及其衍生物(叶黄素)的比值,在3种植物中具有显著差异,以草地早熟禾为最高,而沿阶草最低.
