Abstract:

In the study, Zoysia japonica was planted in the five kinds of soil substrates in August and was treated with five shade gradients (0, 15%, 30%, 45%, 60%) in mid-November, respectively. Some index of seedling, including survival rate, growth characteristics, component traits and biomass, were measured. The purpose was to analyze the effect of soil substrate and shade on the seedling components and biomass allocation of Z. japonica in the winter. The results showed that:All of the soil substrates had a highly significant influence on the survival rate, dry weight, fresh weight and biomass allocation. The order of soil substrate conducive to Z. japonica survival and growth in the winter was mature purple soil > residual soil after construction > coarse sand soil > stony soil > humus soil; Shade degree had a highly significant influence on the survival rate. And 30% shade degree was beneficial to the survival and growth of Z. japonica in the winter; The interaction effect of soil substrate and shade degree had a significant influence on the seedlings component traits and biomass allocation, as soil substrate was the main factor followed by shade degree; Under synergistic effect of soil substrate and shade degree, the influence level of component biomass allocation of Z. japonica was ranged as leaf > root > stem. Therefore, we concluded that Z. japonica could improve the adaptation and cold resistance by adopting corresponding morphological plasticity and growth strategy based on its soil substrate and shade degree.
