Seasonal Responses of Species Diversity and Community Stability in a Meadow Steppe in Inner Mongolia to Mowing and Nitrogen Addition

摘要: 探究物种多样性和群落稳定性对干扰的响应机制具有重要的意义。本研究以内蒙古草甸草原为研究对象,分析物种多样性和群落稳定性对不同草原管理措施(施氮、刈割、刈割+施氮)的季节响应。研究结果表明:施氮整体降低了物种多样性,而刈割则维持了较高的物种多样性,生长季内不同月份的物种多样性与群落稳定性呈非同步性变化,但二者整体上呈正相关,Pielou均匀度指数与群落稳定性呈极显著正相关(P<0.01)。不同草原管理措施均提升了群落的时间稳定性,在刈割+施氮及刈割处理下群落的时间稳定性显著提高(P<0.05),施氮会降低物种异步性,但刈割+施氮及刈割处理均提高了物种异步性,群落时间稳定性与物种异步性呈显著正相关(P<0.05)。物种多样性和物种异步性共同维持了群落的稳定,刈割通过增强物种多样性和物种异步性来促进群落稳定,施氮会降低物种多样性,但这种负面影响可通过刈割得到缓解,本研究结果可为草原可持续管理提供参考依据。

Abstract: Investigating the responding mechanisms of species diversity and community stability to disturbance has significant importance. This study examined the seasonal responses of species diversity and community stability to different grassland management practices (control, nitrogen application, mowing, mowing + nitrogen application) in the meadow steppe of Inner Mongolia. Research findings showed that nitrogen addition reduced species diversity overall, whereas mowing maintained higher species diversity. Species diversity and community stability exhibited asynchronous changes across different months within the growing season, yet showing an overall positive correlation. The Pielou evenness index demonstrated a highly significant positive correlation with community stability (P<0.01). All grassland management measures enhanced community temporal stability, and significant improvements observed under mowing plus nitrogen application and mowing treatments (P<0.05). Nitrogen addition reduced species asynchrony, whereas both mowing plus nitrogen application and mowing treatments increased species asynchrony. Community temporal stability showed a significant positive correlation with species asynchrony (P<0.05). Species diversity and species asynchrony jointly maintained community stability. Mowing enhanced species diversity and asynchrony, thereby promoting community stability. Nitrogen addition reduced species diversity, but this negative impact could be mitigated through mowing. The findings of this study provide a reference basis for sustainable grassland management.
